For thousands of years the plant known as tobacco has been harvested and cured for smoking. The product containing nicotine, an addictive drug, has been displayed in a false light. Smoking causes more deaths than auto accidents, homicides, and diabetes. Smoking leads to heart disease, lung cancer, and a number of other harmful side effects. These problems have not been clearly displayed for the average buyer until recently, and are still being covered up by vaping. To help prevent the cause of anymore deaths people need to be warned of the problems of smoking, with more rules and regulations on the chemicals used inside of them.

Jonathan Finn
My name is Jonathan Finn, I am a senior at Wakefield school. This is my second year at Wakefield. During my time at Wakefield I was a member of the soccer, basketball, and lacrosse teams. I enjoy sports, video games, and spending time with my friends. For my senior thesis I wanted to study smoking. One reason is because it is a very relevant epidemic in our society. I have heard the standard talks that smoking kills you and you need to stop. I asked myself why? This then sparked the idea. Next year I will be working before I continue my journey in life of college. I will be attending Excelsior before i transfer to the university of Oregon.
